           Well Told

David lives at home with his big dog, small cat, & medium sized wife. They are mostly happy (except for the cat). Born in England 1970's, educated during 1980's, David studied at the University of Warwick. Subjects long forgotten included Japanese Culture, Social Psychology amongst others...

In the past David has won two national BBC awards for his writing. Was head of theatre for a 200 & 100 seat complex in Yorkshire. Has directed Sleuth and Godot & acted in numerous plays. Became 'Head Of Sound' for Todd AO UK (which at the time accounted for over 80% of the UK's drama output).

In 2003 David semi-retired from the British TV industry in order to concentrate more fully on his writing. And in 2004 emigrated to Vancouver Island (Canada) with his wife. In the intervening time has completed several plays and one novel. His latest play, an adaptation of George Orwell's 1984, is to be produced in Victoria in the fall of 2012.

David's plays are written with modern cross media audiences in mind, capable of being enjoyed on many levels - from surface grandstanding to the soft sad underbelly that underpins most of his work.

Recently David started a new theatre company Outpost 31 (Victoria) that is dedicated to producing new Canadian drama.

As Margo Jones (the lady who discovered Tennessee Williams) said...

"The production of classics is healthy but... the seed of progress in the theatre lies in the new plays."
